| And I never would have told *anyone* - mostly about stigma, and nastiness
from my parents. On the other hand, if my husband had just showed up with
a fake, without my suggesting it, I would have been irate. But I think
had he known about a high quality diamond alternative (something LASTING -
a downfall of CZ - its just not hard enough to not discolour and get
distorted and lose its sharp angles over time, whereas Moissanite *IS*) at
MY suggestion, he would have gone for it. |

What do they call the current diamond necklaces they have out - not just a
solitaire type, but a diamond which is surrounded in a circle of 14 K gold or
platinum - does anyone know? |
| One thing I would NOT scrimp on is the setting. get it in the very best
setting. HAve it set in high quality gold or platinum. I prefer
platinum, but given its imperfect color (moissanite is equal in color to
about an I-color diamond - looks great set, but side-by-side with a
colorless diamond looks frankly yellowish. I have a small ring with an
H-colored stone in a white gold setting, and it faces up just fine. But
if I put it side-by-side with my E-color engagement ring set in platinum,
it looks yellow in comparison), if I had moissanite I would consider
getting yellow gold. I would have to see it both ways. |

| Well, I dont know what the consensus is, but I say go for it! I have
a wedding ring that is made of a 1/4 carat diamond bezel set and .10
carats of sapphires channel set in kind of a wave pattern in yellow gold.
I got to design the ring with the jeweler and it is beautiful! Weve
talked about adding a small band to follow the curve of the ring with
small diamonds and small sapphires channel set, but thats it. No huge
rock for me.
I worked with a woman who had a gorgeous nearly flawless natural
emerald that was huge (!) for her engagement ring. It didnt seem to
invalidate her marriage. Apparently the diamond solitaire is a primarily
American invention. Ive had some really rude comments from people about
upgrading my ring, or that it wasnt really a wedding ring (Oh, really,
it was when we got married). I even had a woman who said, in front of
Rich, while we were on our honeymoon, that I needed to _make_ him get me a
larger diamond when he could afford it. I dont want a diff. |
